I recently had the opportunity to visit the big City, and happened to stop for a quick bite in town. Never spoke to a single human the whole time, as it appears that the robots have indeed taken over the so-called menial tasks once done by teenagers trying to earn a little spending money. Fortunately, this was followed up with some wonderful family time to help get the taste out of my mouth (see what I did there?). I realized very quickly what makes Up North the special place that it is. It's people who treat their fellow man like old friends and take the time to chat a bit, yes, including eye contact and maybe even a hug! One of our good friends/customers brought us a little bag of fresh apples today. Another brought me a book she had enjoyed and thought I might like. Just because. These things happen all year long, not just at Christmas, either! So you can keep your automation and conveniences and I'll keep my old fashioned ways, including (but not limited to!) my old fashioned Christmas!
